Majlissi's Reason for Chain Analysis in Mirat al-Uqul

Allamah Muhammad Baqir al-Majlissi († 1699) :

... But when a contradiction arises, one should certainly consider the chains of narration in favor of some accounts over others, for while all chains of narration are authentic (Mu'tabar), it is not unreasonable to assume that the authenticity of some is stronger than that of the others. لكن لابد من الرجوع إلى الأسانيد لترجيح تبعضها على بعض عند التعارض ، فان كون جميعها معتبرا لا ينافي كون بعضها أقوى
